Dynamic Inventory in action: property results
Updated: 4 days ago
From a handful of categories to dozens of virtual products. Across these property records, the additional premium averages around €3 to €49 for every direct online booking.
The same rooms can meet very different guest needs. These property examples show the additional revenue earned when guests can book room features and services matched to their stay.
One clear metric: additional premium per online booking
The metric divides each property's recorded room-feature and additional-service premiums by all its direct online bookings, including bookings without a premium. It shows how much additional value the property earned per booking on average. We also show the equivalent per 100 bookings, using the same sample. Each property has its own guest mix and pricing strategy.
What the premiums measure
Room-feature premium is the amount paid above the relevant room-category price. Example: Standard €100, Superior €120, Superior on a high floor €125. The measured feature premium is €5.
Additional-service premium measures how much more additional-service upselling earned on individualised product bookings than additional-service upselling on comparable category bookings in the same direct online channel.
Regular category upgrades and the usual sales of additional services come on top. Every property featured here has at least doubled its online direct-booking share compared with the period before GauVendi.
The metric, property by property
Follow the funnel for every 100 bookings in the same direct online channel: the sales mix shows individualised feature or experience products versus categories. Within the individualised products, some bookings earn a room-feature premium above category. Additional-service upselling is then compared with additional-service upselling on category bookings. Together, these two premiums give the additional value per 100 bookings.
On average, around €9 more per direct online booking. Per 100 bookings: 36 individualised products, of which 22 were above category at an average premium of around €26. Room-feature premium: €580. The same calculation is used throughout: recorded premium divided by all online bookings analysed. The per-100 figure is that average multiplied by 100. Figures are rounded.
One room, ten pitches
Your best agent never sold room 12 the same way twice. Dynamic Inventory is that agent on your website: one room, several offers, one availability. A Junior Suite can also be presented as a Family Room when its existing features fit that stay. These are virtual products built from the same physical rooms; combining them with rate plans creates the bookable offers.
Attribute-based Selling (ABS) means selling specific room features. Dynamic Inventory provides the inventory model for those features, virtual products, combinations and packages. GauVendi's Sales Operating Platform supports the sales process beyond a traditional CRS or booking engine, while the PMS handles hotel operations.
More products, automatic inventory and room assignment
Virtual products share the availability of the physical rooms behind them. Sell a room through one product and its availability updates across the others. GauVendi's smart assignment is included and runs automatically. Expanding the product range adds no manual inventory or assignment work; the hotel sets its room features and sales strategy.
If a room is marked out of order in the connected inventory, it is excluded from sale. A product remains available only where another eligible room can fulfil the booked features for the stay. Reception and housekeeping still work with the same physical rooms.
A focused choice for the guest
The product range gives GauVendi more ways to match a stay to the guest. Its Direct booking flow presents up to six retail choices, with recommendations and optional personalisation. Guests can book a suitable recommendation or refine the features that matter to them.
Know your guests and strengthen direct sales
A guest's choices show what matters to them. Hotels can use that knowledge to shape offers, improve the booking journey and give guests a reason to book directly. When preferences are bookable online, there is less to arrange by phone.
Two distinct sales opportunities: room features such as bed type, view or location, and additional services such as parking or breakfast. The measured gains are the room-feature premium above category and the additional-service upselling premium above that of comparable category bookings.
Price the features guests value and the flexibility you retain
A guest who secures a particular view, bed or location can pay a higher premium. A guest who leaves more of the room choice open gives the hotel greater freedom in assignment and can receive a lower price. That freedom has operational value: more rooms remain suitable for the booking. The hotel decides how to price both choices, balancing guest preferences, revenue and the flexibility it wants to retain.
Across customer deployments, GauVendi reports product prices typically set 10% to 35% above the relevant category's Best Available Rate (BAR). This is pricing context, not the measured uplift in the records above or a price ceiling. Hotels can set higher feature premiums, or include selected preferences without a supplement, according to demand and their guest-experience strategy.
Across the published property records
Giving each of the seven records equal weight, the average additional premium is around €14 per online booking; the median is around €9. Expressed per 100 bookings, the averages are around €680 from room features and €690 from additional services, or €1,370 combined; the median is €896. The average sales mix was 59% individualised products and 41% categories. The reported average premium on premium bookings was around €23. The country hotel contributes the largest premium, which explains the gap between mean and median.
What would 100 bookings mean for your property?
Build your own business case with your monthly online booking volume, an explicit premium assumption and the price quoted for your property. The per-booking metric makes that calculation straightforward; the per-100 figure makes the property examples easier to compare.
Portfolio benchmarks
Across its whole portfolio, GauVendi reports +20% average revenue uplift per property and 7.7% average look-to-book conversion, measured as bookings divided by booking-engine sessions. These are separate metrics from the room-feature and additional-service premiums above. The airport hotel's reported look-to-book conversion was 7.1%.
Two questions for your IBE or CRS comparison
“How much additional premium do your customers earn per online booking from room features and increased additional-service sales, beyond their usual upselling?”
"What is your average look-to-book conversion rate, and how do you calculate it?"
Ask for both figures, the booking sample and the calculation. That shows what the technology actually delivers in sales.
