GauVendi for Mews: More Than a Booking Engine — Sell Room Features, Not Space Categories

If you run your property on Mews and your rooms genuinely differ from one another, you have probably hit the same wall as most Mews hoteliers: the native booking engine sells space categories, and your guests want to book a balcony, a high floor, a quiet corner or a specific bed configuration. GauVendi is what Mews properties use to sell exactly that. It replaces the booking engine for the direct channel — and it is more than an IBE: a Sales Operating Platform that creates the products from your real rooms, prices them by their features and assigns the right room to each booking, while Mews stays the PMS.

What stays, what changes

Mews stays. It remains your system of record for reservations, guests, housekeeping, check-in and check-out. GauVendi does not replace Mews and does not touch your Mews operations.

The booking engine changes. GauVendi's Sales Engine becomes the direct channel on your website. It reads your inventory and availability from Mews, presents each unit's actual features as sellable products, and writes confirmed reservations back into Mews — assigned to the right physical unit, not just the right category.

Your OTAs are unaffected. Booking.com and Expedia continue to receive your Mews space categories through your existing channel manager. Feature-based products can be reserved for the direct channel, so your own website is no longer selling the identical product as the OTA at a slightly different price.

What a Mews property can sell with GauVendi that it cannot sell with space categories

A Mews space category is a container. GauVendi opens the container and sells what is inside it: balcony or terrace, floor, view, bed configuration, bathtub or walk-in shower, quiet courtyard or street side, workspace, connecting door. One physical unit becomes several products — a "Quiet Garden Room" for the light sleeper, a "Focus Room" for the business traveller, a "Family Suite" from two connecting units — each with its own price, each matched to the guest who values it. Guests who lock what they love pay a premium. Guests who let the hotel choose pay less.

What other Mews hoteliers say

The most useful evidence is not ours. In the Mews Community thread on booking engines for DACH properties, Mews hoteliers comparing alternatives to the native booking engine name GauVendi as their recommendation, citing upsell and conversion. Mews announced the integration in January 2022, and we have presented jointly with the Mews customer harry's home on feature-based selling.

Setup and cost

Typical go-live is about three days, without an IT project on your side. What you supply is reasonably accurate unit-level data in Mews; where it does not exist yet, capturing it is part of onboarding. Pricing is a monthly subscription per property with no booking commission — indicatively a platform fee from EUR 100 per month plus roughly EUR 3 to 6 per bookable unit per month depending on modules, with a minimum around EUR 200. Actual pricing is quoted individually. See Pricing.

Questions Mews properties ask

Does GauVendi replace Mews? No. Mews remains the PMS. GauVendi replaces the booking engine for your direct channel and adds the product, pricing and assignment layer on top.

Can I keep my channel manager? Yes. OTAs continue to receive space categories as they do today. GauVendi's Flexi-Channel, with SiteMinder as the default integration, can take over distribution if you want channel-differentiated products, but it is not required.

Does it work with my revenue management system? Yes. GauVendi consumes the price levels your RMS sets in Mews and derives feature-based product prices from them. It does not replace the RMS.

Is this attribute-based selling? It is the mechanism, taken further. Attribute-based selling describes the ingredients of a room. GauVendi turns them into named, priced products and assigns the physical unit automatically at the moment of booking.

Recorded results at Mews properties

Four of the Mews properties selling with GauVendi have published their results, normalised to 100 direct online bookings so that any hotel can compare:

  • 23-room mountain hotel — 5 categories, 39 ways to sell them; 35 of 100 bookings individualised, 19 above category; around €6 more per booking.

  • Airport hotel with more than 150 rooms — 13 categories, 82 ways to sell them; 66 of 100 bookings individualised, 35 above category; around €13 more per booking, led by park-and-fly.
