GauVendi for Oracle OPERA Cloud: More Than an IBE, via OHIP, on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace
Updated: 5 days ago
OPERA Cloud properties tend to have the most detailed inventory data in the industry and the least of it visible to the guest at the moment of booking. Room types carry the inventory; the features that make one room worth more than the next — floor, view, balcony, bed configuration, quiet location, connecting door — stay inside the PMS. GauVendi puts them in front of the guest. It replaces the internet booking engine for the direct channel — and it is more than an IBE: a Sales Operating Platform that turns those features into products, prices them and assigns the rooms, connected to OPERA Cloud through the Oracle Hospitality Integration Platform (OHIP).
On the Oracle Cloud Marketplace
GauVendi has two listings on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. The GauVendi Feature-based Internet Sales Engine (Next Gen IBE) is filed under Internet Booking Engine and is the direct-channel booking engine. GauVendi Inventi-Flow is the automated room assignment module. Both connect through OHIP. GauVendi joined the Oracle Cloud Marketplace in late 2023.
What stays, what changes
OPERA Cloud stays. It remains the system of record for reservations, profiles, rates, housekeeping and operations. GauVendi does not replace OPERA Cloud and does not sit in the path of your OPERA workflows.
The internet booking engine changes. GauVendi's Sales Engine becomes the direct channel on your website. Through OHIP it reads room types, availability and rates from OPERA Cloud, presents each room's actual features as sellable products, and writes confirmed reservations back with the physical room assigned at the point of sale.
Distribution is unaffected. Your OTAs and GDS continue to receive OPERA room types through your existing channel manager. Feature-based products can be reserved for the direct channel so your website is not selling the identical product as the OTA.
What the Sales Engine does that a conventional IBE does not
A room type is a container. GauVendi opens it and sells what is inside. One physical room becomes several products — a quiet high-floor room for the light sleeper, a connecting pair sold as one family product, a room with a real desk for the business traveller — each with its own price, each matched to the guest who values it. Retail display uses social proof and scarcity labels; complex bookings such as connecting rooms or rooms next to each other are handled online rather than by phone; and the room configurator confirms the chosen features at the time of booking. Guests who lock what they love pay a premium. Guests who let the hotel choose pay less.
Onboarding via OHIP
Create a GauVendi platform account and follow the OHIP process indicated on the marketplace listing. The GauVendi team sets up your user account and sends your OPERA Cloud admin an integration-user approval request; once approved, the connection is live. Typical go-live is about three days, without an IT project on your side. Pricing is a monthly subscription per property with no booking commission — indicatively a platform fee from EUR 100 per month plus roughly EUR 3 to 6 per room per month depending on modules, with a minimum around EUR 200, quoted individually. See Pricing.
Questions OPERA Cloud properties ask
Does GauVendi replace OPERA Cloud? No. OPERA Cloud remains the PMS. GauVendi replaces the internet booking engine for the direct channel — and is more than an IBE: it adds the product, pricing and assignment layer on top.
Is GauVendi a revenue management system? No. GauVendi consumes the rate levels your RMS sets in OPERA Cloud and derives feature-based product prices from them. It works alongside an RMS, not instead of one.
Can I keep my channel manager and GDS connectivity? Yes. Third-party distribution continues as today. GauVendi's Flexi-Channel is optional for hotels that want channel-differentiated products.
Is this attribute-based selling? It is the mechanism, taken further. Attribute-based selling describes the ingredients of a room. GauVendi turns them into named, priced products and assigns the physical room automatically at the moment of booking.
